EncryptionData is transmitted and stored using the most secure methods available, such as strong authentication, data advanced encryption standard (AES 128, 192 or 256) and password protection. It is designed to keep backed up data confidential, while still allowing legitimate users to perform data recovery. All encryption/decryption is done at the client side only. Don’t loose your key!
4backup EngagementAn initial storage survey will provide the information needed to understand the uniqueness of your data, giving us information on how to compress and archive your data in the most efficient manner.
An initial backup of your data takes place using our local 4backup staging server; this backup is then physically removed from site and transported securely to our data centre. The staging server will remain on site to act as the local backup server, this transfer to the offsite store. On occasions, customers with small volumes of data do not require the local staging server.

4backup RecoveryThe S4B Network Operations Centre is able to recover small amounts of data to your users anywhere in the world; large data recovery is made to disk/hardware at the data centre and transported to you.
Costs4backup is priced on the amount of data stored at the data centre following all compression and de-duplication, the total size of data is then charged to you; this includes all data retention. The Data Schedule allocates new/recent and business critical data (such as email) to ONLINE fast storage while aged or non critical data ARCHIVE slow storage.
Setting up
Setting up the service takes less than an hour and there is no need for any new hardware. The software included in the service only needs to be installed on one server on your network, with no additional software needed on other machines connected to the network.
Initially, the system takes a full backup of your data, this acts as the master backup. After the master backup, only changes made at incremental block level are then backed up, usually on a daily basis. 4backup rebuilds a full master for each generation of data, whenever recovery is needed.
All the databases, file servers and PCs on your network can then be accessed so that a backup strategy can be defined. You then decide the timing, frequency and number of generations for each backup set, ensuring that there is no disruption to your business.
All data is compressed and encrypted before it is transmitted to the S4B data centre.

Data Scheduling4backup’s Data Scheduling feature manages the backup period of the data lifecycle to compliant data destruction. It governs the rules for when data is archived, how the data is indexed for long-term archiving and automated searching and restoration.
Scheduling offers policy-based file archiving and brings you two benefits; frees up storage capacity used, reducing the cost of inactive files online, by using files that are unlikely to ever be needed for restoration, but are still required to be protected.
Bare Metal RecoveryBare metal recovery allows businesses to restore the complete system on new hardware – regardless of manufacturer.
